Rather be Riding is the online motorcycling journal of Wes Reyneke. Born in Namibia, but based in Cape Town, South Africa, Wes is a creative gun-for-hire, juggling editorial, content management, photography and design on a daily basis.
Wes is also currently the editor-in-chief and primary road tester for the world’s leading authority on custom motorcycles, Bike EXIF. Prior to joining Bike EXIF, he worked as a creative director for a leading digital media agency, before switching his focus to writing and photography.
As Bike EXIF’s roving reporter, Wes has traveled to a dozen different countries over the past few years, reporting on motorcycle shows and model launches from major OEMs. He has interviewed the head designers at BMW Motorrad and Harley-Davidson, and been part of two ‘bike build-off’ teams.
Wes has also written for international magazines such as Iron & Air and Craftrad, plus Gestalten’s definitive custom motorcycle book ‘The Ride: Second Gear’. He’s a regular contributor to the leading South African site ZA Bikers, and writes the occasional piece of copy for custom motorcycle heavyweights like Blacktrack Motors.
Wes is also a father of three, a multi-instrumentalist, a Triumph Bonneville owner, and a staunch advocate of scooters, dad humour, fanny packs, sweatpants, craft beer and fine bourbon.
